A minor fire broke out in a building near Gate Number 31 of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported, officials confirmed.
According to a DFS official, the fire was reported at 1:51 p.m., following which five fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot.
“We received a call about a fire near Gate 31 of Rashtrapati Bhavan and dispatched five tenders. The fire was contained by 2:15 p.m.,” the official said.
🚒 Fire Originated on Ground Floor of Two-Storey Building
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire originated in household items stored on the ground floor of a two-storey building within the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex.
Authorities said firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
Visuals from the area showed fire tenders and personnel at the site as a small crowd gathered near the entrance.
“The situation is fully under control. No one was injured, and there has been no damage to critical government sections,” a senior official told PTI.

Officials said the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Electrical malfunction or short circuit is suspected but not confirmed. A fire safety inspection is being conducted to assess the source of ignition and ensure preventive measures.
The Delhi Fire Department has also advised a review of fire safety systems in nearby administrative buildings as a precautionary measure.
