In a major morale-boosting announcement for the state police force, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said that the government has released funds for pending surrender leave encashments and approved Dearness Allowance (DA) benefits for police personnel.
Participating in the Police Martyrs’ Memorial Day event held at the 6th Battalion Grounds in Mangalagiri, the Chief Minister paid homage to 192 police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty this year and announced multiple welfare measures aimed at strengthening the force both financially and technologically.
“The police are not just employees — they are public servants who risk their lives for peace and safety. Their sacrifice deserves the highest respect,” Naidu said during his address.

💰 Funds Released for Police Welfare
Highlighting his government’s commitment to supporting the state’s law enforcement officers, Naidu revealed that:
- ₹33 crore has been released for medical services provided to police personnel over the past 16 months.
- ₹23 crore in insurance payments has been disbursed to the families of 171 officers who died on duty.
- Pending surrender leave amounts for police staff will be cleared in two installments.
- The state has approved a Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for all government employees, including the police.
“We are positive towards our government employees and committed to addressing their concerns promptly,” Naidu said.
🚓 6,100 Police Recruits, Promotions on Track
The Chief Minister also announced that recruitment for 6,100 constable positions has been completed. He assured that departmental promotions will be fast-tracked to ensure career progression within the police force.
“Our goal is a healthy, wealthy, and happy Andhra Pradesh — for that, peace and security are essential,” Naidu stated.
🛰️ ‘Tech-Driven Policing Is the Future’
Emphasizing the need for modernization, Naidu urged the police to adopt advanced technologies such as CCTV networks, drone surveillance, mobile tracking, and Google Takeout analytics to effectively tackle modern crime.
“Criminals are updating themselves with technology — so must we. Andhra Pradesh Police must become a model of smart, data-driven law enforcement,” he said.
He cited the use of drones to:
- Detect and destroy marijuana crops,
- Track red sandalwood smugglers, and
- Monitor forest areas prone to Naxal activity.
“We are determined to eliminate smuggling and organized crime. If criminals feel fear, society feels safe,” he added.
🕊️ Law and Order Is Non-Negotiable: Naidu
Naidu reiterated that his government would never compromise on law and order, calling it the foundation for economic growth and investor confidence.
“Investors like Google chose Andhra Pradesh because they trust our governance and safety systems. Peace attracts prosperity,” Naidu said, referring to the recent $10 billion Google AI Data Center investment in Visakhapatnam.
He also warned against attempts to create communal or caste divisions, calling them “political conspiracies” aimed at destabilizing society.
“Those creating unrest for money or power will face strict action. The police must remain alert to such plots,” he said.
📱 Social Media & Gender Crimes a ‘New Challenge’
Naidu flagged social media misuse as a growing challenge for the police, citing online harassment and misinformation campaigns.
“People post personal attacks without accountability. The police must adapt and respond swiftly to digital threats,” he said.
He also issued a stern warning on crimes against women, declaring that “anarchy against girls will not be tolerated — it will be the last day for those responsible.”
🛡️ ‘Government Will Stand By the Police’
The Chief Minister concluded by reaffirming his administration’s unwavering support for law enforcement.
“The government stands firmly behind the police. You protect the people — we will protect you and your families,” he said.
“Andhra Pradesh Police is a brand, respected nationwide for its service, discipline, and courage.”
