Robbery at Gunpoint in Ranjit Nagar

The incident took place on October 5 around 7 p.m., when two men entered the home of the complainant — a woman from a property business family who lives alone — and held her and two domestic workers at gunpoint.

The assailants then locked all three inside a bathroom and escaped with the cash.

“The robbers used a toy gun but executed the crime in a planned and coordinated manner,”
said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan.

Inside Job: Domestic Help Tipped Off Gang

Investigators found that the complainant’s domestic worker had informed the gang about the victim’s financial dealings and cash kept at home.

She was arrested after questioning and ₹5,000 of the stolen money was recovered from her possession.

“She was promised a share of the loot in exchange for information and access to the house,”
DCP Valsan said.

CCTV Footage Led to Arrests

Police examined CCTV footage showing four suspects conducting recce of the area a day before the robbery.

Based on technical surveillance, local intelligence, and informer inputs, police first arrested Sachin and Sandeep from Baljeet Nagar, followed by Kailash alias Ganju.

Their interrogation led police to the mastermind Rahul, who had allegedly recruited two professional robbers from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh — identified as Vikas Rathi and Akshay Kumar.

Toy Gun Recovered; Accused Have Criminal Records

A team sent to Bijnor arrested Vikas Rathi and recovered the toy pistol used in the crime.
Akshay Kumar, who initially escaped, was arrested after a week-long manhunt across multiple states.

“Both Vikas and Akshay have a history of criminal activity, including robbery, attempt to murder, and offences under the Arms Act and Gangster Act in Bijnor,”
police said.

So far, ₹26,000 of the stolen ₹5 lakh has been recovered.

The search for Rahul, the alleged coordinator of the crime, is ongoing.
