A 47-year-old man was killed in a road accident in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka early Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a Mahindra Thar, police said on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Ashish Kumar, a resident of Nanhe Park in Uttam Nagar, was returning home when the crash took place near Ramphal Chowk in Sector 9, Dwarka, around 1 a.m.
Police said the Thar driver fled the scene, abandoning the SUV at the spot. Kumar was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

A case under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Dwarka South Police Station, officials said.
“The owner and the person driving the vehicle at the time of the incident have been identified. Teams are working to apprehend the accused,” said a senior police officer.
The Thar bore a Haryana registration number, police added.

According to investigators, both vehicles — a Mahindra Thar SUV and a Bajaj Platina motorcycle — sustained significant damage in the crash. Preliminary reports suggest overspeeding and rash driving may have led to the collision.
Police said CCTV footage from nearby shops and traffic cameras is being reviewed to establish the exact sequence of events.
