New Delhi, September 2025 – Central government employees may receive a festive gift this Diwali as the Union government is expected to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) from 55% to 58%. According to reports, nearly 1 crore employees and pensioners will benefit once the decision is officially announced.
Current DA Status
- At present, central staff receive 55% DA under the 7th Pay Commission.
- The last hike of 2% was implemented on January 1, 2025.
- If approved, the latest 3% increase will be effective from July 1, 2025.
How the Hike Impacts Salaries
- An employee with a basic salary of ₹40,000 will see an increase of ₹1,200 per month, adding up to ₹14,400 annually.
- For someone earning ₹30,000, the hike will add ₹900 per month, which is ₹10,800 yearly.
- Pensioners will also benefit, as the increase will be reflected in their pension payouts.
