In a shocking incident, a woman from West Bengal was allegedly gang-raped and robbed at her residence in Gangondanahalli, Bengaluru Rural district, on Tuesday night.
The attack reportedly occurred between 9:15 pm and midnight, when a group of five men forcibly entered her home.
Distress Call Alerted Police at Midnight
According to officials, police received a distress call at around 12:30 am from the survivor’s elder son.
A team led by senior officers immediately rushed to the spot, following which an investigation was launched.
“The accused not only committed sexual assault but also took away two mobile phones and ₹25,000 in cash,”
said Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) CK Baba.

Three Arrested, Two Absconding
Police have so far arrested three of the five accused, identified as Kartik, Glen, and Sujoy — all residents of the same locality.
Two others involved in the crime are still absconding, and a search operation is underway to trace them.
“The survivor is out of danger. We are also verifying whether the accused and the survivor knew each other,”
SP Baba added.
A special investigation team (SIT) under a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) has been formed to handle the case.
Crime Details
Initial reports suggest that the five men knocked on the door, asking the occupants to open it. Once inside, they allegedly overpowered the family members, assaulted the woman, and stole valuables before fleeing.
There were six people inside the house at the time — three women, two adults, and two children.
The survivor, who had recently moved to the area, is currently under medical supervision and receiving support from local authorities.
Case Registered, Investigation On
Police have filed a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to gang rape and robbery.
Officials said multiple teams are scanning CCTV footage and tracking local informants to identify the two remaining suspects.
“We will ensure strict action and fast-tracking of the case,”
said an officer part of the investigation team.
