A massive explosion ripped through a house in Pagla Bhari village, under the Pura Kalandar police station area of Ayodhya, on Thursday morning, killing five people and leaving several others injured.
According to police, the blast was so powerful that it led to the complete collapse of the structure, trapping multiple residents under the debris.

🚨 Rescue Operations Underway; Several Feared Trapped
Circle Officer (CO) Shailendra Singh told PTI that rescue operations were in full swing, with efforts to pull survivors from the rubble continuing late into the evening.
“Five people have died in the explosion. A few others are injured, and efforts are on to rescue those still trapped. The cause of the blast is not yet clear,”
said CO Shailendra Singh.
Teams from the police, fire department, and local administration rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion was reported.
Excavators and heavy machinery are being used to clear debris, while disaster response personnel are working to locate survivors.
🏚️ Nearby Houses Evacuated as Precaution
Officials confirmed that nearby homes were evacuated following the explosion, as cracks developed in adjoining walls.
Residents have been asked to stay away from the area to ensure rescue work proceeds without disruption.
“The entire locality has been cordoned off. Our priority is to save lives and secure the area,”
said a senior district officer overseeing operations.
🏥 Injured Shifted to Hospital
The injured victims were immediately shifted to Ayodhya District Hospital, where emergency teams have been mobilized.
Medical officials said that several people are being treated for burn injuries and trauma caused by the collapse.
Doctors confirmed that the condition of at least two victims remains critical.
🔍 Cause of Explosion Under Investigation
Police have not yet determined the cause of the blast. Preliminary reports suggest that the explosion could have been triggered by stored gas cylinders or chemical substances, though this remains unconfirmed.
Forensic experts and the anti-sabotage squad have been called in to examine the site.
Authorities said that samples from the debris will be tested to identify the exact trigger.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives and directed senior officials to rush to the spot and personally monitor rescue operations.
